Princess Kate Steps Back Into the Spotlight in Powerful Alexander McQueen Coat

The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since the arrest and subsequent release of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on Saturday, 21 February, attending the England v Ireland rugby match at Twickenham during the latest round of the Six Nations.

For the solo engagement, she appeared as polished as ever. However, beyond her typically elegant style, the 44-year-old was said to have selected her outfit carefully, using it to subtly convey a message as she returned to public view.

The mother-of-three opted for an all-blue ensemble, anchored by a striking royal blue coat by Alexander McQueen. The tailored piece featured a structured cut, defined front panelling and a belted waist that accentuated her silhouette.

She paired the coat with a black turtleneck and completed the look with a large England Rugby scarf, perfectly colour-coordinated with the blue outerwear, showing clear support for the home side.

The Princess has worn the Alexander McQueen coat on several previous occasions — first during the Christmas Day walk at Sandringham in December 2023, and more recently at the German state visit in December 2025.

Personal stylist and mindset coach Shauna Colaci told HELLO! that the colour choice carried symbolic meaning.

She explained: In colour psychology, blue symbolises trust, loyalty, and calm authority. It’s the colour of diplomacy – quietly powerful, universally flattering, and emotionally steadying. Perfect for a royal visit where every outfit is a message.

Princess Kate’s Six Nations оuting

On Saturday, the 44-year-old attended the latest Six Nations fixture alone. While she and Prince William have sometimes brought along their eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, for sporting events, the Princess of Wales made this appearance on her own.

The Princess of Wales also spoke with Deborah Griffin, president of the Rugby Football Union

She was photographed seated alongside England player Fin Baxter, who is currently sidelined from the tournament as he recovers from foot surgery following an injury, as well as Deborah Griffin, president of the Rugby Football Union.

Her attendance at the match came during a particularly challenging period for the Royal Family, just two days after the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, while investigations and property searches linked to him were still ongoing.
