Sarah Ferguson is reportedly preparing to return to Britain, with the news emerging just days after Prince Harry’s surprise return to the UK. The former Duchess of York, 66, is said to be renting a six-bedroom property costing around £10,000 per week somewhere in the Home Counties.
Ferguson left Britain at the beginning of 2026 amid intense scrutiny surrounding the Royal Family’s connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Following King Charles’s decision that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor should leave Royal Lodge, Ferguson was also required to make her own independent living arrangements.
She is now reportedly ready to come back to the UK and resume her life there. Her new home is believed to be somewhere within the Home Counties, an area that includes Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey, although its precise location has not been disclosed.
A source said: “She’s had her eyes on a return for some time but it takes time to find the right new house.
“She hasn’t had to worry about accommodation for 20 years as she had Royal Lodge with Andrew. Now’s the right time to get back to her life.”
A source suggested Ferguson deliberately chose the timing of her return while public attention remained firmly fixed on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“With everyone looking out for Harry and Meghan she thought she could slip back under the radar after seven months away,” the source said.
Meanwhile, removal vans were reportedly seen collecting some of Ferguson’s possessions from Andrew’s Sandringham residence earlier this week. She is now expected to settle into her new property by Monday, August 31.

Ferguson stopped using her Duchess of York title voluntarily in October 2025, following the removal of her former husband’s royal titles. Several months later, at the end of March, she also lost her remaining civic honour, the Freedom of the City of York.
Further difficulties followed after the Epstein files were released earlier this year. Sarah’s Trust, the charity founded by Ferguson, announced that it would shut down, while six companies connected to her reportedly face dissolution. Since then, she has largely remained away from public attention and is said to have declined several requests for interviews.
Ferguson was previously reported to have spent time at the exclusive Paracelsus Recovery wellness clinic in Switzerland. She is also believed to have stayed at various properties in Austria, Italy and France while maintaining a low profile and avoiding the spotlight.
