Princess Eugenie pictured in London for the first time since giving birth to daughter Adelaide Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie Makes First Post-Baby Appearance as She Reunites With Friends in London

Princess Eugenie has made a return to London just over a month after becoming a mother for the third time.

The 36-year-old royal, who welcomed daughter Adelaide on 3 August, was recently seen spending time with a group of friends in the capital. Eugenie appeared delighted to see them, exchanging warm hugs before stopping to chat together.

Keeping her look casual for the outing, the Princess opted for black leggings and a relaxed black top, with a checked shirt wrapped around her waist. She completed the laid-back ensemble with trainers and red sunglasses, while wearing her hair swept back into a loose, messy bun.

The London appearance may have marked one of Eugenie’s first opportunities to catch up with friends following Adelaide’s arrival. Her daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, was born at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, and it had previously been believed that Eugenie might remain there for some time as she settled into her new routine with three young children.

Eugenie and her husband are already parents to two sons, five-year-old August and Ernest, three, who have now taken on their new roles as big brothers.

The proud mother has already offered a glimpse of the children’s growing bond on Instagram. Among the family photographs she shared was an especially sweet moment showing August and Ernest lying beside baby Adelaide as all three siblings cuddled closely together.

Andrew and Sarah

Eugenie’s return to Britain could also provide an opportunity for her parents, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, to spend time with their new granddaughter and potentially meet baby Adelaide for the first time.

Andrew has been staying at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate following his withdrawal from public life. Sarah, meanwhile, is believed to have arrived back in Britain

Why has Sarah returned?

According to HELLO! royal editor Emily Nash, more than one factor may have persuaded Sarah to establish herself in Britain again, with the recent birth of Princess Eugenie’s daughter potentially playing an important part in her decision.

There has also been speculation surrounding Sarah’s finances following the death of her former partner Paddy McNally. Some reports claim she could receive an inheritance from the late businessman, whose funeral was attended by her eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice.

Emily suggested that the timing of Sarah’s return to Britain may be significant, with several possible reasons influencing her decision.

She explained: “I think the fact that she’s come back now is really interesting. And there are a couple of things that could be behind it.”

One possibility, according to Emily, is that Sarah’s financial circumstances may have changed following the death of her close friend Paddy McNally, whose home in Switzerland she had reportedly been using.

Emily said: “One, she may potentially have inherited some money from her great friend whose property she was staying in in Switzerland (Paddy McNally).”

However, she believes family is likely to be the far more important motivation. Sarah recently became a grandmother again following Princess Eugenie’s arrival of baby Adelaide, potentially giving her an even stronger reason to establish herself closer to home.

As Emily explained: “But I think probably the key thing for her will be her grandchildren and wanting to spend more time with them. She’s just welcomed a new granddaughter, Adelaide.”

Although Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank currently divide much of their time around their life in Portugal, they regularly travel back to Britain. Sarah also has Princess Beatrice’s children nearby, meaning a permanent return would allow her to play a much greater role in the lives of all her grandchildren.

Emily added: “And while Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are based in Portugal, they do come back and forth. But she also has Beatrice’s children. And what grandmother doesn’t want to be closer to them? She can’t live in exile forever.”

The meaning bеhind Eugenie’s daughter’s namе

Princess Eugenie kept her newborn daughter’s name private for two weeks before finally sharing it publicly.

Her choice of Adelaide is thought to draw inspiration from two historic royal figures: Maria Adelaide of Portugal and Queen Adelaide, who was married to King William IV.

Interestingly, the name also creates an indirect connection with Prince William and Princess Catherine. The Wales family previously lived at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, making the name of Eugenie’s youngest child coincidentally linked to their former family residence.

Eugenie also chose Elizabeth as one of her daughter’s middle names, continuing a long-standing naming tradition within the Royal Family. The choice honours the baby’s late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who was Eugenie’s paternal grandmother.

Elizabeth appears frequently as a middle name among female members of the family, including both daughters of Princess Beatrice.

The inspiration behind Adelaide’s second middle name, Annina, has not yet been publicly confirmed. However, it has been suggested that Eugenie may have selected it as a personal tribute to her friend Annina Pfuel.
