Prince William and Princess Kate made a glamorous appearance at the Digger premiere on Tuesday evening, joining a host of famous guests including Tom Cruise and David Beckham.
Throughout the night, the Prince and Princess of Wales greeted attendees, waved to the crowds and posed for photographers. But one particularly charming encounter involving Catherine quickly stood out.
Four-year-old Sahrae-Lea Herbert approached the Princess to present her with a programme before effortlessly performing a curtsy. Dressed in an adorable white outfit, the youngster’s gesture immediately brought a broad smile to Catherine’s face.
Kate warmly responded: “Thank you” as people nearby could be heard reacting with an affectionate “aww”. Someone in the crowd, possibly William, was also heard saying: “Wow”.
Standing alongside Sahrae-Lea was seven-year-old Evie Peters, who had patiently waited for her turn to greet the Princess. Evie presented Catherine with a beautiful bouquet, prompting Kate to respond warmly: “Thank you for my lovely flowers.”
The seven-year-old then performed an accomplished curtsy for the future Queen. Both girls had been spotted carefully practising the traditional gesture shortly before William and Catherine arrived at the premiere.
For the glamorous evening, Catherine chose a dramatic purple gown by Jenny Packham. The floor-length creation featured voluminous balloon sleeves, a plunging neckline and a sweeping train that added to the red-carpet look.
The 44-year-old Princess complemented her gown with significant pieces of royal jewellery. Around her neck was the Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, a rarely seen piece from the royal collection that Queen Camilla previously wore to the Skyfall premiere in 2012.
Catherine completed her ensemble with another jewellery choice carrying a strong family connection, wearing earrings inherited from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Although Catherine regularly receives curtsies from members of the public during royal engagements, there are still occasions when the Princess performs the traditional gesture herself when greeting more senior members of the Royal Family, including King Charles.
One such moment came during the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March. Catherine warmly greeted the King with a kiss on the cheek before smoothly lowering herself into a curtsy.
The Princess completed the gesture with apparent ease, reflecting the polished royal etiquette she has developed over years of carrying out official duties.
Meghan Markle’s exaggerated imitation of a curtsy in the Netflix series Harry & Meghan attracted widespread attention, but during her time as a working member of the Royal Family, she also demonstrated the traditional gesture at formal engagements.
One memorable example came on Christmas Day in 2018, when Meghan appeared composed and confident as she performed a polished curtsy while attending the royal family’s festive celebrations.
