King Charles speaking with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during Trooping the Colour

King Charles’ Alleged Message to Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Trooping Revealed

During the balcony appearance at Trooping the Colour, King Charles III was reportedly seen guiding the younger members of the royal family as the celebrations drew to a close.

Senior royals gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, including Camilla, Queen Consort, Prince William, Catherine, Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Anne, Princess Royal to watch the traditional fly-past by the Royal Air Force.

According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, just as the Red Arrows passed overhead, Princess Charlotte appeared to turn around and ask: “Time to wave?”

Freeman claimed that King Charles then responded, seemingly addressing the family: “Very good. Now we give a wave.”

The sweet moment suggested the younger royals were checking the timing of the traditional balcony farewell before joining the rest of the family in waving to the crowds gathered below. As with all lip-reading interpretations, the reported exchange has not been officially confirmed.

According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, King Charles III continued to guide the younger royals during the final moments of the balcony appearance at Trooping the Colour.

Freeman claimed the King emphasised his instructions by saying: “Wave to everyone. Cheerio. That’s right, thank you very much.”

He also suggested that Prince Louis then turned to his father, Prince William, and asked: “Is there more?”

William reportedly replied: “No, that’s it. Go on wave, that’s it.”—reinforcing the King’s guidance as the family continued waving to the crowds below.

Jeremy Freeman also noted another interaction involving Louis and Catherine, Princess of Wales during the day’s celebrations, which he suggested showed the young prince may have been following the example of his older brother, Prince George.

As with all lip-reading analyses, these interpretations are speculative and have not been independently verified by the royal family.

The Royal Family

Body language expert Judi James offered her interpretation of the royal family’s appearance on the balcony during Trooping the Colour, suggesting it highlighted two distinct family groupings within the working monarchy.

Speaking to the Mirror, James said: “The newly-pared down royal firm we saw on the balcony showed two family ‘teams’ or units.”

She described one side as consisting of the monarchy’s dependable senior working royals: Prince Edward, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Tim Laurence and Anne, Princess Royal.

On the other side, she highlighted Prince William, Catherine, Princess of Wales and their children as a “tightly-choreographed, immaculately stylish and elegant” family unit.

James also noted the presence of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, suggesting he represented the resilience and dedication of an older generation of royals still carrying out duties well into his nineties.

Noticeably absent from the balcony were Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, whose non-attendance reflected the King’s long-standing focus on a smaller group of working royals.

Likewise absent was Prince Andrew, who no longer undertakes official royal duties. Reports noted that Andrew was photographed earlier in the day near Windsor, but he did not take part in any Trooping the Colour events.

It is worth noting that Judi James’s comments represent a body language interpretation rather than an official account of relationships within the royal family. Other observers viewed the balcony appearance as a display of unity among the current working members of the monarchy under King Charles III.
