Reports suggest that Princess Eugenie’s relationship with Meghan Markle has become strained over a disagreement involving a book, adding to alleged tensions within the Royal Family.
The situation is also said to have affected Eugenie’s relationship with her older sister, Princess Beatrice, with reports describing the pair as “locked in a power battle”.
According to the claims, both sisters are trying to distance themselves from their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, while also stepping away from Meghan Markle.
Beatrice and Eugenie have each built their own family lives and are reportedly determined to protect that stability by avoiding further involvement in controversies surrounding the monarchy.
An insider told Woman’s Day: “Beatrice and Eugenie both want to put some distance between themselves and their parents, and now they’re doing the same with each other.”

Despite the reported tensions, the sisters are said to remain deeply fond of one another. However, they have apparently begun to recognise that being constantly associated as a pair may not always work in their individual interests.
The source explained: “They love each other dearly, of course, but they’ve realised that always being seen as a package deal hasn’t necessarily helped them so they’re going their separate ways.”
According to the insider, there is currently “a lot at stake” for both princesses, who are reportedly “both fighting to hang on to their place within the monarchy and that pressure has definitely got them feeling competitive.”
The report further suggests that Beatrice and Eugenie are attempting to “line up opportunities to keep them afloat should the worst-case scenario happen.”
Their alleged growing distance has also been linked to a controversy involving Eugenie and Meghan Markle.
In early October, a copy of Meghan’s children’s book The Bench, which had reportedly been given to Eugenie as a personal gift, appeared for sale on eBay with an astonishing asking price of £19,999 ($26,000).
Although the listing was subsequently taken down, it reportedly included an image of a handwritten message Meghan had addressed to Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
According to StyleCaster, Eugenie was “horrified” when she discovered the book had been advertised for sale. She reportedly insisted that she had no knowledge of how the personally inscribed copy had found its way onto the online marketplace.
