Princess Charlotte joined Prince William, Princess Catherine and the rest of the Wales family on Saturday as they attended the penultimate day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where they watched the track cycling events.
The family were also accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, with Charlotte sharing a sweet moment with her great-aunt, Sophie. The Duchess warmly leaned in to give Charlotte a hug, which the young princess happily returned.
Although she smiled during the greeting, Charlotte’s attention was quickly drawn back to the action unfolding on the track, with the sporting events clearly capturing her interest.
For the occasion, Sophie looked elegant in a white patterned shirt paired with a denim skirt, while Charlotte opted for a charming polka dot dress.
More photos from the day showed Sophie warmly greeting Prince William before the Wales and Edinburgh families took their seats to watch the action. They witnessed New Zealand’s Devon Briggs produce a sensational performance, setting a new world record in the Men’s Para-Cycling C3 1000m Time Trial.
Charlotte also enjoyed exploring other events during the Commonwealth Games, including the netball and judo competitions. One of the highlights of her visit came when she met the Games’ mascot, Finnie, with the young princess beaming as she exchanged a high-five with the friendly unicorn. Her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, were equally delighted and followed her lead by giving Finnie a high-five as well.
After spending time in the stands, Prince William and Princess Catherine met a number of athletes whose sporting careers have been supported by SportsAid.
The engagement held special significance for the Princess, who has served as patron of the charity since 2013. SportsAid helps promising young athletes develop their talent by providing financial support and opportunities as they work towards competing at the highest level.

The close relationship between Duchess Sophie and Princess Charlotte has been evident for years, with the Duchess of Edinburgh regularly offering support and guidance to her young great-niece during royal engagements. As Charlotte gradually takes on a more public role, Sophie is seen as an important mentor within the Royal Family.
Their warm bond was also on display during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Sophie was visibly delighted to see Charlotte in attendance, while Prince Edward greeted the young princess with an enthusiastic wave as she joined Princess Catherine in the stands for the swimming events.
Another memorable moment from the Games saw seven-year-old Charlotte pulling a playful face at Sophie, prompting smiles and highlighting the affectionate relationship the pair share.
